Scones on Friday

Why Scones on Friday? I worked from home. I had all the ingredients in the house. And I was only working a half day.

These were moist and really quite good. I added some lemon peel to the scone mix. I thought the glaze would be too sweet but I was surprised how good it was.

Click here for the recipe for Blueberry Scones with Lemon Glaze.

Dinner was up in Hartford tonight. We had dinner at the Infinity Hall Bistro, before the Delbert McClinton show. For apps we had Calamari and Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers. No complaints with either one.
We had burgers tonight. Good but I had to eat it with a fork and knife. A wee bit messy.

Before dinner, we stopped at Ted's Montana Grill for cocktails.

Chris tried a cup of their Bison Chili. Nice!!!! We may eat there the next time we see a show at the Infinity Hall.

An Evening With The Smithereens

In case you could not tell, our favorite band is The Smithereens. Tonight was our 5th time seeing them this year. We saw them in January at BB King's in New York. In May at the Infinity Hall in Norfolk, September at the Kate in Old Saybrook and in October in New Jersey at Pat DiNizio's birthday bash. Tonight we went to the Infinity Hall in Hartford. The venue is really nice. The seats are very comfortable, with drink holders! And the sound is excellent. We ate in the bistro before the show.

Of course we started off with cocktails and appetizers. I had the SGT Pepper Martini which is a Smoked Pepper Infused Vodka Dirty Martini with Sriracha Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives. I love this drink. Chris had the Classical Score which is Rebel Yell Rye, Sweet and Dry Vermouth, a Luxardo Cherry and Bitter Infused Guitar Ice Cube. The ice cube was in the shape of a guitar. Very cute.

We had the Crispy Calamari and the Panko Crusted Mac n Cheese. The Crispy Calamari was served with Banana Peppers, Daikon Radish, Carrots, Snap Peas and Sake Ginger Aioli. The dressing was excellent. We have this whenever we are at the Hartford or Norfolk Infinity Hall. Always delicious.

We also had the Panko Crusted Mac n Cheese. We had this on our first visit to the Hartford Infinity Hall and loved it. Tonight it was rather bland. Salt maybe?

For dinner Chris had the Housemade Gnocchi which was served with a Lamb Ragu, Preserved Lemon, Roasted Onion Puree and Asiago. Nice and light. Just the way Gnocchi should be.

For dinner I tried something I knew I would not make at home, plus I could not have pasta again. I had the Chicken Stir Fry Dumplings. They had a Pomegranate Hoisin Glaze, Snap Peas, Carrots, Onions, Bok Choy and Sesame Seeds. Loved the flavors.

The show was excellent as always!
Rock on!

Infinity Hall, Norfolk

Tonight Chris and I went to see Delbert McClinton at the Infinity Hall in Norfolk. We were happy to find a new menu since the last time we were there. Everything we ordered we loved!
We started with a Lobster Flatbread. Lobster, melted Leeks and Corn, Ricotta and Lemon Butter. Every ingredient complimented each other. It was a perfect dish.
We also had the Buffalo Calamari. Think Chicken Wing sauce on Fried Calamari. Nothing wrong with that combo.
Dinner was sublime. Not sure if it was not yelling at Lucy to get off the counter but eating dinner out was delightful. I had the Scallops. Served with a Multigrain Risotto which was amazing. I ate just about the whole dish. Chris polished off the couple of scallops I left behind.
Chris had the Center Cut Ribeye. Wow!!! Melt in your mouth good. It was served with a Cauliflower-Cheddar Tart. It was something I have to see if I can get the recipe for.

Lunch at Infinity Bistro

Today we went see Dickey Betts at the Infinity Hall. Excellent show! But no photos. They were kind of strict, and we were very close to a security guy so why risk it. But I found this video of Dickey and his son on youtube. It is a video showing how to play Jessica. So any budding guitarist out there enjoy!

Before the show we had lunch at the Infinity Bistro. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside.
We started with the Crispy Calamari and ordered a new item, Goat Cheese Crostini's, roasted red beets, pistachio's, balsamic reduction. Nice!

For lunch I had the Infinity Salad with Tenderloin Tips, I am on kind of a red meat kick. Chris had the burger with a side of Black Bean Salad. Both meals were very good.

Really enjoying the vacation frame of mind! It is Sunday night and I have no idea what we are eating for dinner this week. Gonna play it by ear! Be prepared for anything...

Infinity Music Hall and Eight to the Bar

Tonight we went to the Infinity Music Hall to see Eight to the Bar. It is such a fun place. The food is good and well the band has been around as long I can can remember.
We started with cocktails (surprise!) and Crisp Calamari that was tossed with snap peas, daikon radish, nappa cabbage, carrots, lemon ginger aioli. Wow it great start to the meal. They also served bread with flavored butter. Tonight's flavor was salsa. Great idea.
For dinner Chris had a burger served with a side of Black Bean Salad.
I had the Orrechiette Pasta with garlic, spinach, piquillo peppers, tomato leek cream sauce. The dish comes with sausage but they made it vegetarian. It was quite good and I almost cleaned my plate but I wanted to save room for dessert...
Chocolate Temptation. Yes I said Chocolate Temptation. A chocolate torte and a creamy chocolate mousse. Wow.
