Christmas Eve In Photos. 7, 8, 9, 10 Fish?

Yay!!!! Christmas Eve Dinner at my sister's house!! The food was delicious as always. The conversations were great. Just to be able to talk to 5 people around the dinner table was a treat!

Ralph and Lenore outdid themselves as usual. I counted well over 7 fish. But really, who's counting?

Enjoy the photos!

And Merry Christmas to all.

Christmas Eve Care Package

Not much difference this year from last year as far as dinner went. Well unless you consider it was just Chris and me at the dinner table in our own house. No dinner at my sister's this year. Didn't get to catch up with the usual group. As much as it was missed we have to hope that next year we can all sit down together again.

We did receive a care package from Lenore and Ralph that had everything we needed or could have wanted for Christmas Eve dinner. Heck, they even gave us the wine!

Sauce with lobster tails!

Stuffed Squid in a marina sauce!

Baccala Salad (the spicy one)!!!!

Fried Cod Cakes!!!

Shrimp and Scallop Cakes!!!

Amazing! Delicious!! Just like it tastes every year!!!

But I got a text from Lenore and Ralph and they asked the question, "Is it the company or the food that makes the holiday?"

We missed seeing everyone. The food was still delicious. Yes enjoying it with everyone would have been wonderful. But if 2020 has taught us nothing, it has taught us that we can adapt to any situation.

Of course, having the care package did make it a little easier to adapt.

Twas The Night Before Christmas

And there was a lot of fish in the house. I am not even going to try to capture in words what this meal was like. If you have seen any of my previous Christmas Eve posts you know this is my favorite meal of the year.  Once again Lenore and Ralph blew us away with the dishes and the flavors and the wine. Enjoy the photos.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Christmas Eve

I am sorry I have not posted many dinners this month. It was too busy. I took photos but to write at night seemed like too large a task. If anyone missed the posts I am sorry. To be a better blogger is on my to do list for next year.  Without any further ado lets move on to my favorite meal of the year. Christmas Eve at my sister's house.

This year Lenore and Ralph out did themselves. The Pasta. The sauce. The Stuffed Calamari. Okay stop right here. The texture of the Calamari was perfect. And the stuffing, lobster!

Fried Smelts and Eels. Eels in Vinegar. At this point I thought I died and went to heaven.

My sister made the Seafood Polpettes this year. I honestly think they taste better when someone else makes them. But what happened to the photo????

Then there were the scallops with a Balsamic Dressing on top. What? Spot on sear on the scallops. Gordon Ramsay would be happy.

Wine and cordials and cookies galore.

And a full moon too!

Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Here we go with the two best dinners of the year!
That's right Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Fasten your seat belts, but not too tight as there is a lot of food to drool over!

I think I have mentioned previously that my favorite meal of the year is Christmas Eve dinner. My sister and brother-in-law pull out all the stops. The sauce, the fresh pasta, the stuffed squid, the salads and the fried fish and amazing wine pairings... see I told you loosen up the seat belt....

Christmas Eve At My Sister's House
Homemade Pasta with Fish Sauce

Fried Baccalá Balls and Arancini di Riso

Baccalá Salad, I like the spicy one!

 Broccoli!

 Fried Smelts

Tilapia with Lemon Caper Sauce (I took photo before adding the sauce)

 Stuffed Squid, absolutely amazing!

 And Cookies....
My new favorites are the Lime Bars,
forget lemon this is the way to go!
120 Proof Whiskey Balls! Wow!

Then There Was Christmas Day

Arancini di Riso

And the star of the dinner...
Cappelletti in my sister's Chicken Broth

 Eggplant and Portabello Mushroom Gratin
(Thank you Chef Darryl Moiles of The Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach
for sharing the recipe!)
I used up the tomatoes from my Dad's garden that I froze this summer.
The sauce was exceptional!

I would like to sent out a THANK YOU
to Chris who helped pull the Christmas Day meal together and
yes even a thank you to Archie who stayed hidden all day
and Lucy who supplied comic relief.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
