After having a celebratory cocktail in our brightly lite living room the dinner I picked up was not that bad after all.
This was the question that was asked by my mother every day when we spoke. We both enjoyed talking about food. She passed away in 2006. I miss someone asking that question. So this is where I will tell whomever what I am making for dinner.

Hurricane Cooking - Day 6. Is our porch light on?
Tonight it was my turn to pick up something for dinner. Chris had come in with 2 fantastic meals and I could not even think of what to buy. I stopped at Whole Foods, thinking surely I would find something. Nothing jumped out at me. I ended up buying some Roast Turkey Breast and a pound of Quinoa and Chickpea Salad.
As I approached our street I noticed that a house had lights on. I figured they had a generator. Then I turned down our street and I saw our porch light on! Then I saw a light go on in the living room. I was in tears by the time I got out of the car. I was so happy. Lights and running water!
